Maggi
Cameron
is best known for her
contribution towards education within the Health
and
Beauty Professions.
Maggi
takes pride in knowing she has passed her knowledge on to
hundreds of
therapists. Of all her achievements, this is the one she is most passionate
about.
Of course, she’s also an excellent therapist with
many accomplishments to her name
but to her, the most
precious one of all - Is her role as an educator.
Maggi
began her career at the Kirschner Academy of Scientific
Beauty in Sydney and later at the Ella Bache
College
under the guidance of Madam Edith Hallas,who became her
mentor. The two stayed in touch for many
years even after
Madam Hallas retired
It was through Madam Hallas’s influence that she obtained
her passion for teaching. From this great lady, Maggi
learned how to diagnosis different skin types and conditions
plus the vital importance of active ingredients. This
knowledge stayed with her throughout her career and she
never forgot how good it felt to learn from a great and
dedicated teacher.
She made a pledge that one day she would educate others and
emulate this wonderful lady.
Years later when she opened her own school – Camelot
Academy of Advanced Beauty Therapy - she drew on
this experience
to impart knowledge to her numerous
students with great success.
Many of them are still in touch with her today. She has
watched them grow in their chosen field with a great deal
of pride. A bit like a
mother hen. Some
have worked in Spas in Europe – many have their own
successful salons – some have worked
in health centres.
It is satisfying for Maggi to know she
has contributed in some way to their success.

One student was examined by the president of the British
Aromatherapy Council as the employers were unsure if an
Aromatherapist
who had been trained in Australia would have the skills they needed.
His Verdict?

‘You can confidently send this therapist anywhere - She is
brilliant!’
.
This was music to the ears of the therapist and the teacher.
Maggi’s Skills..
.
Maggi has
had almost thirty years experience in Health and Beauty
Therapy. Always eager to increase her knowledge
she has studied in Paris, London and Rome, and of course
in Australia.
Maggi & husband John studied Laser Therapy under the eminent
Prof. Freidrich Plog
who is known as the ‘Father of Laser’.
A brilliant German pioneer, he
discovered that Laser technology will dissipate clustered
blood protein and thereby return
the cells to a healthy state; he also discovered that this
same light technology made it easier for the lymphatic
system to
remove the blood protein build up and restore cells to a
healthy ‘Dry State’.
In 1980, Maggi attended Eve Taylor’s college at
Seven Oaks, London
to be
trained in
Aromatherapy and Reflexology.
Eve is still one of the leaders in her
field with forty years of knowledge. Time magazine voted
Eve’s Oxygen Facial as the -
BEST in the WORLD! Maggi has followed Eve’s
career with interest
and kept in touch
In Rome the same year, she learned
muscle restoration
technique and in Paris she learned
Lymphatic drainage.
Maggi later went on to learn
Reiki
and
Bowen therapy in Australia
These skills were ultimately passed on to her
students.
For instance as part of their body massage module they also
learned – reflexology; lymph drainage and aromatherapy.
Maggi loves to hear from her past students. They often tell
her when they get compliments on their work - they
answer ‘I had a
good teacher’
The
Camelot Centre:
In 1981 – Maggi and husband John (a
Natural Therapist) opened the Camelot Centre – at the time
one of the largest
Health and Beauty Centres in Sydney.
It boasted a Beauty salon; Hair salon; Laser clinic; Health
services and her pride and joy -
an
AABTh & ITEC approved training college.
Maggi was
invited to join the executive committee of the AABTh,
(Advanced Assoc. of Beauty Therapists) where she
served for the next 11 years.
She was the longest serving Vice President – a total of
seven years. One of her many roles was as an education
officer and examiner. It was in this capacity that led to
her and others setting the beauty therapy training
curriculum
to coincide with CIDESCO world guidelines. This was a big
task and a great milestone.
She
was on the committee that organised the CIDESCO World
Congress, Sydney 1988 which was a huge success.
In 1984-86 Maggi was chosen as
International examiner
for CIDESCO colleges in New Zealand -
A testament to
her knowledge and how highly she was regarded by her peers.
Maggi has been awarded life membership of the AABTh
for
her contributions – an honour that is
bestowed on very few.
New
Horizons
In 1990 Maggi sold her clinic and
college and moved her family to Melbourne. If she thought
this was going to be an
easier life she was mistaken. She took over the role as
chairperson
of the Victorian chapter of the AABTh,
as
well as teaching more groups of beauty therapists.
Maggi
Sees the Light
In 1995 Maggi was provided with the
Clinical trials of a new Swiss low level laser system. It
impressed her so much
that she decided to take it on. That was fifteen years ago
and She is still as enthusiastic about its effects today
as she was back then.
She began to see great results from the low level laser. Her
earlier training with Professor
F. Plog was useful as he
had taught her how lasers could be both powerful &
destructive in the wrong hands.

She started treating photo ageing, acne and rosacea as well
as arthritis, sports injury, burns, ulcers etc. The low
level rays soothed and healed the skin. And it didn’t stop
there – the more clients she helped the more they told
others. Her Light therapy business expanded as word
of the effective results spread.
Almost
by accident she had a whole new business!!
When the Swiss developed the World’s
first
Chromatherapy Colour Lenses
that could be applied to
eyes without protection
in the
late 90‘s, Maggi studied Chromatherapy and added this to her
successful Laser business.
Bio-Beauty is born…
In 2003
Maggi moved to the Gold Coast
and set up… Bio-Beauty
Health Products
She became an agent for the Light & Colour Therapy as well
as distributing unique skin and health care products like:
Bioptron Light Therapy; Colour Therapy units; Mandura Trim
and Nutritional Beverage; Cellfood; Organic Calcium
Kakadu Juice;
Swissological
and HEMP
Organics skin
care…
She designed her own website and a successful online store
where she sells Locally and Internationally online.
She teaches
Chromatherapy
(Colour
Therapy) and
has come full circle
– once
more passing her vast knowledge to
others. That is her niche - where she is most fulfilled and
is never too busy to answer questions from clients and
students. She believes teachers are born not made. In her
college, if a student failed the 80% pass mark, they
received extra training at no extra cost. Some
of her best graduates needed her extra help to make the
grade, as
she knows not everyone learns at the same pace.

Although she has seen 30 years go by in her career – Maggi
has no intention of slowing down. She says,
" When you are passionate about
your work - it is no longer work but a joy"
