DEVELOPMENT OF BIOPTRON LIGHT THERAPY Bioptron Light Therapy Devices

At the beginning of the development of photo medicine mostly infrared and ultraviolet parts of the spectrum were used in modern light therapy. In the early 1980s, a research team of scientists headed by Dr Marta Fenyo, created a light source that was originally based on low level laser therapy. However the team's goal was to create a light never conceived before which could:


       a) Incorporate every colour of the spectrum without damaging the tissue
         b) Penetrate to blood and cellular level and cause cell bio-stimulation
         c) Relieve pain from all sources i.e. surgical wounds, injury, arthritis, burns etc
       d) Increase collagen production (needed for all healthy tissues)
         e) Increase immunity and regulate DNA
         f) Produce ATP (Adenosine-triphosphate) - energy of each cell

         The team achieved this and world trials of this amazing light source began in the 1990's

   How does it work?
   Just as plant photosynthesis is stimulated by light, the body also reacts to various wavelengths of light. The wavelength of VIP
    Light is 480 - 3400 nm - hence it is a combination of the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum and near infrared light.
   The BIOPTRON electromagnetic spectrum does not contain UV radiation! By utilising the full spectrum of visible light and a
   portion of near infrared light the rays cause bio-stimulation of cells. It became known as Visible Incoherent Polarized Light
   Therapy due to the use of the visible spectrum of wavelengths and the 95% polarisation. The wavelengths are measured in
   nanometres (billionth of a metre). For instance red rays measure between 650-780nanometres and are the longest rays of the
   spectrum. They penetrate to the deepest level of all the rays and have been used in many medical trials which are still being

Research by Dr Marta Fenyo into the VIP Light revealed certain physical characteristics that are essential for the effectiveness
of light therapy. Based on this technology the BIOPTRON Light Therapy System was created.

BIOSTIMULATION
:

BIOPTRON VISIBLE INCOHERENT POLARIZED (VIP) Light Therapy System is shown to have a number of effects.
   Primarily, it increases the energy activity of the cell membrane
   (biostimulation) which activates metabolic processes, and
   increases the cells� production of enzymes. This results in
   greater production of energy reserves. By the same
   mechanism, body tissues are oxygenated. The body�s defense
   system is thus stimulated on a cellular and hormonal level.
   For example:
   At a cellular level, vitally important scavenger cells have their

   POLARIZATION
   The main feature of the Bioptron Light therapy is that BIOPTRON Light is polarized light: This means its waves move
   (oscillate) in parallel planes.

   Polarized BIOPTRON Light is produced by the reflection of light on a specially patented, multi-layer mirror (Brewster�s mirror,
   named after its creator). BIOPTRON Light has a degree of polarization that reaches 95%.(see diagram above). It has been
   scientifically proven and confirmed in practice that medical treatments using polarized light give exceptionally good results.

   POLYCHROMY - multi wavelengths (colours)
   Another important feature is that BIOPTRON Light is a polychromatic light. This means it contains multi wavelengths (unlike
   lasers which is mono [single]wavelength) Bioptron emits visible light and some near infrared range. The wavelengths of
   BIOPTRON Light ranges from 480 nm to 3,400 nm.    The BIOPTRON electromagnetic spectrum does not contain UV radiation!

   INCOHERENCY
   Unlike laser light, BIOPTRON Light is incoherent, or out-of phase light. This means that the light waves are not synchronized
   and the wavelengths move parallel and independent to each other to emit constant low energy.

   In the above illustration you can see the key difference between the light from a laser (in red) and BIOPTRON Light. Laser light
   is coherent and monochromatic - meaning laser light has a single wavelength and one colour. The waves are in phase with
   each other(coherent) and their energies unite. This results in very high energy levels on the spot to which the laser beam is
   directed (the skin).
   In contrast, BIOPTRON Light is incoherent. This means that every light wave oscillates independently with its own wavelength
   and amplitude. Their intensities are not united, so every light wave transmits its own energy, which is low but constant.
   This produces gentle, more effective results.

HOW DOES VIPL DIFFER FROM LASER/IPL OR LED THERAPY?
1) NO SCARRING: Bioptron Visible Incoherent Polarised (VIP) Light Therapy offers low constant energy for a longer period of time. It stimulates the blood and cells for long periods (from 6-8 mins) whereas with laser/IPL the cell is stimulated for a fraction of a second at high energy and the risk of scarring is always there. No scarring can ever result from using Bioptron VIPL
