How does controlling Leptin reduce fat cells ?

Scientists have discovered that in order to lose weight, controlling Leptin levels is essential.

Excess Acidity  is a condition that weakens all body systems. Excess acidity forces the body to borrow minerals - including

your body is working to neutralize over acidity is to check  your urine. A high urine acid content doesn’t mean that your body is as

Healthy Fats - Essential Fatty Acids

Essential Fatty Acids are the "good fats" in the news.   Some information hasn't changed since Julius Fast wrote his
book -The Omega-3 Breakthrough  (Tucson, Arizona: The Body Press 1987, ISBN 0-89586-625-0). For example, good
fats compete with bad fats, so it's important to minimize the intake of trans fats and cholesterol (animal fat) while
consuming enough good fats. Also, good fats raise your HDL or "good cholesterol". One of the jobs of this High Density
Lipoprotein (HDL) or "good cholesterol" is to grab your bad cholesterol, LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), and escort it to
the liver where it is broken down and excreted. In other words, these good fats attack some of the damage already
done by the bad fats.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) 

Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are necessary fats that humans cannot synthesize, and must be obtained through diet. EFAs are
    long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids derived from linolenic(Omega3), linoleic (Omega 6), and oleic (Omega 9) acids.

There are two families of EFAs: Omega-3 and Omega-6.  Omega-9 is necessary but "non-essential" because the body can
    manufacture a modest amount on its own, provided the other essential EFAs are present.

EFAs support the cardiovascular, reproductive, immune, and nervous systems. The human body needs EFAs to manufacture and
    repair cell membranes, enabling the cells to obtain optimum nutrition and expel harmful waste products. One primary function of
    EFAs is the production of prostaglandins (hormone like  lipid compounds), which regulate body functions such as heart rate, blood
    pressure, blood clotting, fertility, conception, and play a role in immune function by regulating inflammation and encouraging the
    body to fight infection. Essential Fatty Acids are also needed for proper growth in children, particularly for neural development and
    maturation of sensory systems, with male children having higher needs than females. Foetuses and breast-fed infants require an
    adequate supply of EFAs through the mother's dietary intake.

EFA deficiency is common, particularly Omega-3 deficiency.  The ideal intake ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids is between
    1:1 to 4:1, with many only obtaining a ratio between 10:1 and 25:1. A healthy dietary intake for both Omega-3 & Omega-6 per
    adult per day, is 1.5 grams of each. One tablespoon of flaxseed oil can provide this amount, or larger amounts of  other linolenic-
    rich foods. Because high heat destroys linolenic acid, cooking in linolenic-rich oils or eating cooked linolenic-rich fish is unlikely to
    provide a sufficient amount.

EFA deficiency and Omega 6/3 imbalance is linked with serious health conditions, such as heart attacks, cancer, insulin resistance,
    asthma, lupus, schizophrenia, depression, postpartum depression, accelerated aging, stroke, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, ADHD,

Omega-3 (Linolenic Acid)
 

Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA) is the principal Omega-3 fatty acid, which a healthy human will convert into eicosa-pentaenoic acid (EPA),
    and later into docosa-hexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and the GLA synthesized from linoleic (Omega-6) acid are later converted into
    hormone-like compounds known as eicosanoids, which aid in many bodily functions including vital organ function and intracellular
    activity.

Omega-3s are used in the formation of cell walls, making them supple and flexible, and improving circulation and oxygen uptake with
    red blood cell flexibility and function.

Omega-3 deficiencies are linked to decreased memory and mental abilities, tingling sensation of the nerves, poor vision, increased
     tendency to form blood clots, diminished immune function, increased triglycerides and "bad" cholesterol (LDL) levels, impaired
     membrane function, hypertension, irregular heart beat, learning disorders, menopausal discomfort, itchiness on the front of the
     lower leg (s), and growth retardation in infants, children, and pregnant women.

 Canola oil is often used as a cheaper alternative to the healthier virgin olive and grape seed oils. Although Canola has at least
     some linolenic content, supermarket varieties of canola oil are often refined and processed with chemicals and heat, which destroy
     much of its linolenic acid. Cold-pressed, unrefined Canola oil is a healthier type of Canola (sometimes pricier than virgin olive oil),
     and found primarily in health food stores and specialty markets. The word "canola" is derived from "Canadian oil", as Canola was
     developed in Canada from the rape plant. Rape is a plant in the mustard family, and its rapeseed oil has at times been illegally
     blended with olive oil, particularly in Europe, to cheapen olive oil production costs. Although rapeseed oil is high in linolenic acid,
     it can make humans seriously ill if enough is consumed, and olive oil cheapened with rapeseed oil has a history of severely
     sickening its consumers. (Ever feel itchy after eating commercial brands of peanut butter? Check the label -- it probably contains
     rapeseed oil.) Canola was developed to eliminate chemicals toxic to humans in rapeseed oil, thus creating an inexpensive oil with
     linolenic acid. Unlike olive and flaxseed oil, both known to the ancients and used as mankind evolved, Canola is a recent oil, and its
     long-term effects on humans are not yet known.

 Omega-6 (Linoleic Acid)
 

 Linoleic Acid is the primary Omega-6 fatty acid. A healthy human with good nutrition will convert linoleic acid into gamma linolenic
     acid [GLA], which will later by synthesized, with EPA from the Omega-3 group, into eicosanoids.

 Omega-6 may improve diabetic neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, PMS, skin disorders (e.g. psoriasis /eczema),
     and aid in cancer treatment.

 Although most of us obtain an excess of linoleic acid, often it is not converted to GLA because of metabolic
     problems caused by diets rich in sugar, alcohol, or trans fats from processed foods, as well as smoking, stress,
     pollution, aging, viral infections, and other illnesses such
     as diabetes. It is best to eliminate these factors when possible, but some prefer to supplement with GLA-rich foods. Foods which
     contain Omega 6 include: flax seeds (may be cold pressed), borage oil, black currant seed oil, flax seed oil, Acaii, evening primrose
     oil, grape seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, pine nits, pistachio nuts, sunflower seeds (raw), olive oil, olives, chestnut oil, chicken among
     many others. Corn, safflower, sunflower, soybean, and cottonseed oils are also sources of linoleic acid, but are refined and may be
     nutrient-deficient when sold in stores.
 

Omega-9 (Oleic Acid)
 

Essential but technically not an EFA, because the human body can manufacture a limited amount, provided essential EFAs are
    present.

Monounsaturated oleic acid lowers heart attack risk and arteriosclerosis, and aids in cancer prevention.
    Find  Omega 9 in  these foods:

Olive oil (extra virgin or virgin), olives, avocados, almonds, peanuts, sesame oil, pecans, pistachio nuts, cashews, hazelnuts,
    macadamia nuts, etc.

One to two tablespoons of extra virgin or virgin olive oil per day should provide sufficient oleic acid for adults. However, the "time-
     released" effects of obtaining these nutrients from nuts and other whole foods is thought to be more beneficial than consuming
     the entire daily amount via a single oil dose.

Food tips
 

 High heat, light, and oxygen destroy EFAs, so when consuming foods for their EFA content, try to avoid cooked or heated forms.
     For example, raw nuts are a better source than roasted nuts. cold pressed Kakadu Juice. Don't use flaxseed oil for cooking, and
     never re-use any type of oil.

 Replace hydrogenated fats (like margarine), cholesterol-based fats (butter/dairy products), and poly-saturated fats (common
     cooking oils) with healthy EFA-based fats when possible. For example, instead of margarine or butter on your warm (not hot)
     vegetables, use flaxseed and/or extra virgin olive oils with salt. (This tastes similar to margarine, as margarine is just
     hydrogenated oil with salt.)

 In many recipes calling for vegetable shortening, replacing the shortening with half as much virgin olive oil, and a very small
     pinch of extra salt, often yields similar results.

 Adding virgin olive oil to salads instead of supermarket salad oil is another healthy change.

 Replace oily snack foods, like potato chips and corn chips, with nuts and seeds.

 Extra virgin olive oil or grape seed oil are best to use for cooking oil, as they withstand high heat well.

Healthy Alkalising Recipes  

 Carrot Soup
3 large carrots
2 stalks celery
4 stalks of asparagus
1 lonion chopped 
6 cups of alkaline / distilled water
4 tsps. instant vegetable broth (yeast free)
1 tsp. cumin
2 tsps. fresh dill
Sea Salt to taste

Directions: Chop carrots & celery. Cook in the water until tender - add vegetable broth & onion.  Add stalks of
asparagus and simmer until vegetables are tender. Allow to cool - blend all ingredients. Serve warm. DELICIOUS!!!

Pancakes

2 cups millet or spelt flours, (or a combination of others i.e. quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, bean flour)
1.5 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. Sea Salt
optional: 1/16th tsp. Stevia
Soymilk (unsweetened) or water to make the right consistency (batter thickens after sitting a couple of minutes)

Directions: Pour or spoon batter into a fry pan and cook in Olive, Coconut, or Grapeseed oil, on both sides.

Almond Squares

1 cup liquid coconut oil...can be melted by placing container in hot water
1 cup chopped almonds
1 Dsp honey
3/4 to 1 cup freeze dried coconut
 

Directions: Stir together the coconut oil, almonds, honey and dried coconut (save about one third of it to sprinkle
over the top) in a bowl and pour into an 8X8 pan. sprinkle the top with left over freeze-dried coconut. Chill for
approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove and cut into bite size squares to serve.

Pumpkin Pie

1Pkt Tofu (approx 300gr)
2 cups fresh pureed pumpkin
2 tsp. vanilla essence
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Real Salt
1/2tsp.nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. Stevia powder
3 TBsp. psyllium (agar powder or flakes can be substituted for psyllium)

Directions: Mix tofu, pumpkin, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and stevia powder together in a food
processor till smooth and creamy. Lastly, add psyllium, and blend. Scoop into a pie dish (or Almond Nut Pie Crust recipe
below) and chill for at least an hour. Top with a Nutty Topping or Soy Cream replacement

Almond Pie Crust
1/2 cup spelt flakes ground into flour (use a coffee grinder) or spelt flour
1/2 cup ground almonds
1/4 cup flax meal or ground coconut
1 TBsp. arrowroot powder
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp.stevia powder
1 tsp. vanilla essence
2 TBsp. coconut butter (melted)
2 TBsp. water

Directions: Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Combine water, melted butter and vanilla and pour over dry
ingredients.Mix well. Transfer mixture to a 23cm (9") pie dish. Press mixture firmly into place with your fingers,
making sure to cover bottom and sides of pie plate.
For an unfilled piecrust, bake empty pie shell at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool and fill
with pie filling. For a filled pie crust, first bake the empty crust for 10 minutes, then fill and finish pie per recipe

Avocado Pudding
This is a great way to have a delicious snack while staying alkaline. You can eat this wonderful pudding for
breakfast or in place of one of the soups on the cleanse. It is high in good fats, vitamin E, Calcium and
Potassium with the almond milk and avocado, and high in good proteins from the Soy Powder... You can add
anything you wish in place of the Lime  - Experiment and enjoy!

1 Carton Almond Milk
2 Avocado's
1 lime
2 scoops Super Soy Powder
1/4 tsp Stevia powder
6-8 Ice cubes

Directions: Put all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until rich smooth and pudding like
Variations: Use lemon instead of lime -
Add a pinch or two of fresh grated ginger -
Add a pinch or two of cinnamon and nutmeg and sprinkle on top -
Add chopped raw almonds (or any desired nut, pecan, macadamia, etc. to the top before serving)
Delete lime and replace with 2-3 heaped TBsp of raw carob powder and one capful of mint flavouring.

Black Bean Salad

1 can black beans
1/2 red capsicum, finely chopped
1/2 yellow, orange or green pepper, finely chopped
1 lime, juiced
1/2 red onion, finely chopped
1/2 bunch parsley - chopped
1 .5 tsp. olive oil
2 TBSP. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. garlic powder (or 2 cloves minced garlic)
1/4 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. Tabasco
Sea salt and ground pepper to taste

Directions: Mix all ingredients together and serve .

NB: It is possible to lose 4.5kilos (10 lbs) in 10 days just by using recipes like this one and eating a diet made up
of 70% alkalising food and 20% less alkalising. Greens powder is also a good substitute to alkalise

Lime Shake

1 cucumber peeled
1 avocado
1-2 cups baby spinach
3-4 peeled limes (adjust to desired amount)
8-12 ice cubes
stevia to taste

Blend on high until smooth and drink immediately! YUM! 

Silky Almond Milk 
4 cups of fresh raw Almonds
Pure Water
Strainer

Directions: Soak the raw almonds over night in a bowl of water. In the morning drain and then add to blender -then
add pure water to fill the blender. Blend on high speed until you have a white creamy looking milk. Take a nylon
stocking, (I use a washed white knee high nylon stocking) and pour the mixture through it over a bowl or pan, and
let it drain. Squeeze with your hand to get the last of the milk through the nylon. (The meal and skins left in the
stocking can be used in the shower for a great body scrub).   It may be thinned with if desired This almonds milk
will keep fresh for about three days in the refrigerator.
